Strategies 1917

Toward the end of 1916, at another Allied conference, general agreement was reached to continue a policy of joint Anglo-French large-scale operations on the western front in conjunction with simultaneous Russian and Italian offensives. These would have priority over all operations elsewhere, although the new British Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, decided to undertake a major campaign in Palestine as well.
